Immich is a powerful open-source solution for managing photos and videos – functionally comparable to Google Photos, but entirely under your control. The apps for iOS and Android automatically back up photos from your smartphone to your server; the integrated AI recognises faces and objects and makes your library searchable; a map view shows where photos were taken. Crucially, the AI analysis runs locally on the server; no photos are transmitted to third parties for processing. With Managed Immich Hosting, you get this convenience as a ready-to-use service, without having to run a server yourself.

Immich supports multiple users with separate libraries, as well as shared albums with links for external users – handy for sharing photos with family, colleagues or clients.

Who is Immich suitable for?

Immich is ideal for individuals and families who want to move their photo collection out of Google Photos or iCloud and keep it in Switzerland. Small businesses with lots of images also benefit: agencies and photographers can manage project photos centrally, craft businesses and architectural firms can document building sites directly from their smartphones, and clubs can collect event photos from all their members in shared albums. With OpenHosting, your Immich instance runs in Swiss data centres in the Zurich region – your photos and the AI metadata derived from them remain in Switzerland and are processed in accordance with the nDSG. The service is fully managed: we install updates, monitor the service and back up your library daily in accordance with the 3-2-1 principle (hourly in the Business Plan, with GPU acceleration for the AI functions).
